About

Please join us as we honor and celebrate Krista Smith with moderator Eric Kuhn, for her outstanding work in identifying and supporting emerging artists in the entertainment industry. The evening will include a welcome toast and an extended conversation with our 2017 award recipient.

As Vanity Fair’s Executive West Coast Editor, Smith is the magazine’s ambassador to Hollywood. Each month, she introduces readers to breakout actresses through the Vanities section, and also plays an instrumental role in producing the highly anticipated annual Hollywood-Issue cover and portfolio each year. Many in the film industry have tapped into Smith’s ability to discover, identify, and monitor the development of new stars throughout her career. Smith has written numerous cover stories for the magazine, and in recent years has taken her journalistic talents from the world of print and expanded them to video. In 2013, Smith participated in the launch of Vanity Fair’s YouTube channel and has expanded her involvement by partnering with Starz to produce video series in conjunction with Vanity Fair at Sundance and Toronto.

This event will be moderated by Eric Kuhn, who runs marketing and strategy for Layer3 TV, a next generation direct-to-consumer cable provider available now in five cities around America. Before helping launch the company, Eric was Hollywood’s first “social media agent” at United Talent Agency. There he represented some of the industry’s top writers, directors, actors and producers on investments, digital strategy and social media. Pervasively, Eric was CNN’s Audience Interaction Producer, running social media and producing some of the first television programs that integrated digital platforms. He also is responsible for launching the National Basketball Association and CBS News on social media.  Eric serves as an advisor to numerous startups in the media and entertainment space, including TrackMaven, Niche (sold to Twitter) and This Technology (sold to Comcast). He is also a proud board member of Lincoln Center Theater.
