The ninth annual SeriesFest recently took place in Denver, Colorado, where I attended the event for the first time.

A celebration of episodic TV, the festival gathers creators and fans for several days of screenings, workshops and more.

I was there to moderate a discussion after the screening of the “Peak TV” episode of CNN’s new limited series, “The 2010s.”

SeriesFest Season 9 unveiled its list of winners in the independent pilot competition at a ceremony in Denver on Wed, May 10. Jurors screened 55 pilots from creative voices around the globe at this year’s iteration of the television festival.

The more some people say they are happy, the less likely you are to believe them. But when Chelsea Handler [is] happy, you can sense the genuine smile behind her voice. …Soon, she’ll headline SeriesFest at Red Rocks Amphitheatre. “I’ve never been to Red Rocks!” Handler says. “My first time will be there on stage. I can’t wait.”

If you haven’t been to SeriesFest, one of Denver’s signature entertainment events of the year, just think of it as a film festival for television. One where, for one week, Denver (oddly enough) becomes the epicenter of the TV universe.

SeriesFest has announced the official lineup for SeriesFest: Season 9, which will be held from May 5 to 10 in Denver. “RuPaul’s Drag Race” producers will be presented with the SeriesFest Impact in Television Award at the annual festival, Variety can exclusively reveal.

Candid conversations with Kathryn Busby (President, Original Programming, STARZ), Wade Davis (Chief Executive Officer, Televisa Univision) speaking with Mike Fries (CEO, Liberty Global) and Adam Lewinson (Chief Content Officer, Tubi) will take place during the “Innovation Talks” event, TheWrap can exclusively reveal.

Chelsea Handler is headed to SeriesFest. The comedian, who just finished her stint as guest host for “The Daily Show,” will headline the annual event’s closing night festivities on May 10.

“We are ecstatic to announce a very special night of comedy at Red Rocks featuring the one-and-only Chelsea Handler,” SeriesFest CEO and co-founder Randi Kleiner said.

In partnership with Shonda Rhimes’ Shondaland, SeriesFest has awarded its 2022 Women Directing Mentorship to Gia-Rayne B. Harris.

The program first launched in 2018 and pairs rising female directors with established episodic directors on Shondaland-produced series.
