Required for all SeriesFest competition categories, the Series Format Deck is an integral part to the pitch process and sale of your series. An effective Series Format Deck introduces your project in a visually exciting and emotionally powerful way. It captures the reader’s imagination, allowing them to see the full scope of the series and embrace the characters.
In celebration of this unsung craft, SeriesFest is partnering with Canva, our Preferred Design Platform, to acknowledge the creativity and skill necessary to build the perfect series format deck. SeriesFest: Season 10 Official Selection creators who choose to create their series format decks in Canva will have the opportunity to win the inaugural Outstanding Series Format Deck Award, a $5,000 cash prize, for the best series format deck submission created in Canva.
ELIGIBILITY
SeriesFest: Season 10 Official Selections in the Independent Pilot, Digital Short Series, Unscripted, Late Night, Colorado Pilot in Progress, and Pitch-A-Thon categories that use Canva to create their Series Format Deck will be considered eligible for the Outstanding Series Format Deck Award.
The Series Format Deck should be no longer than 15 pages, must be in English, and include the following:
- Log Line
- Pilot Synopsis Season One
- Outline Main Character Descriptions (Up to 5)
- Tone of your series (can include no more than 2 comparisons)
- Producing Team
- Key Creatives
- Goals for your Series
- A Creator Statement that includes Why This Idea, Why Me, and Why Now?
To be eligible for the Outstanding Series Format Deck Award presented by Canva, Creators must submit a Series Format Deck PDF or URL that has been created in Canva shared at the time of submission. Series Format Decks designed in Canva must include the watermark slide on Page 16 of THIS SERIESFEST – APPROVED TEMPLATE.
Winner will be determined during the 2024 Season 10 festival and announced at the Awards Ceremony in Denver, Colorado. Winner must be available and willing to be featured in a SeriesFest x Canva marketing promotion following the announcement of the award.

Award Terms & Conditions
- Eligibility
The “Outstanding Series Format Deck Award Presented by Canva” Award is open for submitted Series Format Decks:
(i) prepared using Canva;
(ii) whose corresponding project was selected as an Official Selection for either the Primary Awards or was the Pitch-A-Thon Winner; and
(iii) whose creator was 18 years old or older as of the date of submission of the Series Format Deck (“You”).
Eligible Series Format Decks are each an “Entry” and together “Entries”.
To be eligible, the Series Format Deck file must be watermarked as being designed in Canva or the Canva file URL must be shared at time of submission.
Employees of Canva Pty Ltd (“Canva”), its affiliates, subsidiaries, advertising and promotion agencies, and suppliers, (together, “Employees”), and immediate family members and/or those living in the same household of Employees are not eligible to participate in the Competition. This Competition is not open to any individual in a jurisdiction where the Competition or the individual entering the Competition would be prohibited by law. - How to Enter
Submission of a Series Format Deck to SeriesFest, that meets the above criteria, will also constitute submission to the Canva “Creator to Watch” Award.
- Prizes
Up to a maximum of 1 winner will be selected by a panel of representatives from SeriesFest, Canva Pty Ltd (80 158 929 938) (“Canva”) and any additional appropriate industry professional(s) based on the criteria set out in these Terms (“Winner”). The Canva Award is a game of skill, chance has no part in determining the Winners.
The Winner will receive $5,000 USD (“Prize”).
Acceptance of the Prize constitutes:
(i) permission for Canva to use the Winner’s names, likeness, and Entry for purposes of advertising and trade without further compensation;
(ii) agreement that the Winner will feature in a SeriesFest x Canva marketing promotion without further compensation; and
(ii) an acknowledgment that the Winner may be requested to participate in additional promotional activities relating to the Competition, including, without limitation, being recorded, photographed, filmed or interviewed for purposes of advertising and trade without further compensation.
- Winner selection and notification
The panel will select the Winner based on the following criteria, as demonstrated in the Series Format Deck:
- skillful and creative use of Canva;
- use of design to express the idea for the series; and
- overall visual appeal.
The panel may ask entrants to provide their original Canva design files.
The Winner will be announced at the SeriesFest: Season 10 Awards Ceremony in 2024.
If a Winner cannot be contacted, is ineligible, fails to claim the prize within forty-eight (48) hours from the time of announcement was sent, the prize may be forfeited and an alternate Winner selected.
Receipt by Winner of the prize offered in this Competition is conditioned upon compliance with any and all federal, state, and local laws and regulations.
ANY VIOLATION OF THESE OFFICIAL TERMS BY WINNER, AT CANVA’S SOLE DISCRETION, WILL RESULT IN WINNER’S DISQUALIFICATION AS WINNER OF THE COMPETITION AND ALL PRIVILEGES AS WINNER WILL BE IMMEDIATELY TERMINATED.
- Rights Granted by You:
By submitting an Entry, You:
(i) understand and consent to Canva, anyone acting on behalf of Canva, and Canva’s licensees, successors, and assigns, having the right, where permitted by law, to print, publish, broadcast, distribute, and use in any media now known or hereafter developed, in perpetuity and throughout the World, without limitation, your Entry, first name, social media handle and statements about the Competition, for news, publicity, information, trade, advertising, public relations, and promotional purposes without any further compensation, notice, review, or consent.
(ii) represent and warrant that your Entry is an original work of authorship by You, and does not violate any third party’s proprietary or intellectual property rights. If your Entry infringes upon the intellectual property right of another, You will be disqualified at the sole discretion of Canva. If the content of your Entry is claimed to constitute infringement of any proprietary or intellectual proprietary rights of any third party, You shall, at your sole expense, defend or settle against such claims. You shall indemnify, defend, and hold harmless Canva from and against any suit, proceeding, claims, liability, loss, damage, costs or expense, which Canva may incur, suffer, or be required to pay arising out of such infringement or suspected infringement of any third party’s right.
(iii) agree to execute such further documents as may be reasonably required by Canva to give effect to these rights.
(f) Liability
By submitting an Entry, to the extent permitted by law, You agree to release and hold harmless Canva and its subsidiaries, affiliates, advertising and promotion agencies, partners, representatives, agents, successors, assigns, employees, officers, and directors from any liability, illness, injury, death, loss, litigation, claim, or damage that may occur, directly or indirectly, whether or not caused by negligence, from:
(i) Your participation in the Competition and/or Your acceptance, possession, use, or misuse of any prize or any portion thereof;
(ii) technical failures of any kind, including but not limited to the malfunction of any computer, cable, network, hardware, or software, or other mechanical equipment;
(iii) the unavailability or inaccessibility of any transmissions, telephone, or Internet service;
(iv) unauthorized human intervention in any part of the entry process or the Competition;
(v) electronic or human error in the administration of the Competition or the processing of entries. You may have certain non-excludable rights or remedies under law. These Terms are subject to any non-excludable right or remedy You have under law.
(g) Privacy PolicyCanva collects information from You (such as your Canva design, name, social media profile and caption and details you provide in entering the Competition in order to determine the Winner and may, for this purpose, disclose such information to third parties, including but not limited to agents, contractors, service providers, and prize suppliers. Entry to the Competition is conditional on providing this information. This section should be read in conjunction with Canva’s Privacy Policy which explains how Canva collects, stores, and uses personal information click here, which also sets out your data protection rights, including access and correction and how you may complain or raise a query about our handling of your information. Depending on Your location, Your information may be disclosed by Canva outside your jurisdiction as contemplated in these Terms. Please see Canva’s Privacy Policy for further details.
